Following her graduation from Shippensburg, Harrisburg native Susan
C. Appleby was the Project Coordinator for the Commonwealth Association
of Students Foundation at Bloomsburg State College. She later worked
for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, first as Program Coordinator
and then as District Director for Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Greenville,
South Carolina; Pensacola, Florida; and Mobile, Alabama. In 1986,
Ms. Appleby accepted a secretarial position with Berman, Boswell,
Tintner and Piccola, and earned her paralegal certificate in 1988.
Susan has been an integral part of the firm since 1991. In addition
to her paralegal duties here, Susan currently is a volunteer with
the Hounds of Prison Education (“HOPE”) Program sponsored
by the Central Pennsylvania Animal
Alliance. Her main
responsibility is to adapt the inmate-handlers’ weekly journals
about their dogs’ progress at the prison for the HOPE
website.
Susan also attends “Meet and Greet” events
to teach the public about the program and to help socialize the dogs.
In 2009, Susan spent part of her vacation volunteering with the “Old
Friends” in Dogtown at Best
Friends Animal Society in Kanab,
Utah.
